Lyle & Scott recreates 90s football shirts as knitwear

A collaboration with Lover's FC, Lyle & Scott recreates 90s football shirts as knitwear to great effect.

It's weird to consider the 1990s like a bygone era, but it is. The decade started 30 years ago. I understand. It appears as though yesterday. And these football shirts within their original form would be classed as vintage. However these aren't in their original form.

Lyle & Scott has partnered with Lover's FC for a limited-edition capsule assortment of football-inspired knits. Yes, at their heart these are instantly recognisable club (and country) shirts, but they all have been re-imagined using textured and premium Italian merino wool.

If your favourite is here now, that can help. However, you don't need a connection using the team for this to operate. The classic Germany shirt just functions as a piece of knitwear. Ok, a couple will struggle to get away from the teams concerned. England of course and that Manchester City one too. But generally, they are interesting designs which get you noticed in the pub or around the terraces. Well, seats these days, however, you get my point.

Oh and merely for that record, the entire collection is inspired through the kits of England, Germany, Manchester City, Ajax (away), Fiorentina and Dortmund. But you probably knew that anyway.

Sizes are Small through to XL once they land and costs aren't cheap. You are considering something similar to lb140, which puts them firmly into premium territory. But these are only available in a restricted run and can well be collector's pieces for fans of the teams concerned within the years ahead.
They will be available from Lyle & Scott as well as from Oi Polloi.
