Warrior trainers – 1970s Chinese casual wear

A shoe that has barely changed for many years. And in terms of the Warrior trainers, that actually isn't any bad thing.

Back in the 1970s, the only real trainers to have in China were Warrior trainers – and even this home-grown brand was hard to find. Trainers were a sports shoe as opposed to a casual shoe. So if you weren't a significant sportsman (or woman) you probably wouldn't possess a pair.

The shoe has been made in China since the 1930s, although the styles the thing is today are likely to be according to footwear types of the 1970s. Exactly why these designs appeared on the shelves is down to Chinese-born graphic designer Shumeng Ye, who presented a limited edition run and a commemorative book in early noughties, using the bundle appearing in designer stores across the world.

As an effect, the company relaunched and the shoes became easier accessible and much more affordable. Actually, there are a number of various designs available today. All with retro appeal, obviously.

Many of the Warrior Shanghai shoes (to give the label its full name) are available at Size? at this time, some even within the sale. Choose from a canvas, suede or leather upper for either the Dime, the Dime Leather and the WB-1 in a variety of colours, most of which are featured here.

A 'grippy' vulcanised (and textured) sole, contrasting detail aside, branding around the tongue plus some branding on the heel too. That's about it really.
A clean, classic style that really never ages. If you want a pair, you are considering a cost from lb35 with the sale now on.
